The combination of the eastern seaboard states, stretching from Maine in the north, Virginia in the south. and Ohio to the west, the Atlantic Union is what remains of the old US government. Controlling most of the atlantic shipping lanes, this combined with trade agreements with certain European states affords them a relatively powerful position within the new structure of the continent. Having engaged in a relatively stable, though perhaps temporary truce with the Federation of American Industries to their west, relations with the Confederacy to their south are however fairly tense, only the Appalachian Borderlands currently creating a buffer zone against all out hostilities
